Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Chicago
The eyes and the structures that surround them are oftentimes the most expressive and revealing facial feature. Our emotions and how we feel physically can be conveyed through the eyes. As we age, the structures of the eyelid region can change; excess, drooping skin can make you appear sad or angry, or puffiness and bags can cause you to appear tired. Eyelid surgery can correct excess skin, tissue, and fat to reveal a more youthful appearing eye.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), depending on your goals, can be performed on the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both. If desired, this procedure can also be combined with other cosmetic procedures to accomplish the desired results.
Droopy upper eyelids can be corrected with an incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Through this incision, fat can be repositioned, muscles and tissue can be tightened, and excess skin can be removed to create a firmer upper eyelid contour.
Similarly, lower eyelid surgery can correct a tired or sad appearing lower lid. The incision is made just under the lower eyelid or just below the lower lash line. Through this incision, fat can be redistributed, muscles tightened, and excess skin removed. In certain cases, diminished lower eyelid support can be corrected with canthopexy or canthoplasty.
Both upper and lower eyelid surgery use incisions that are very well concealed in the natural lines of the eyelid, and are, therefore, extremely hard to detect after healing. As swelling decreases, you will find your eyelids are better-defined, and your face appears more alert and smooth.
