Laser Treatments & Resurfacing
The field of medicine has changed significantly over time. In the past few decades alone, we have seen the emergence of an exciting new era of aesthetic medicine. Today, more people have the opportunity to address the signs of aging without having to face surgery. Primarily, this has become possible through the development of numerous energetic therapies. Laser devices have played an important role in this transition to nonsurgical rejuvenation. The Medspa at NSPS is proud to offer several treatment options to meet the varying needs of our clients.
What is a laser?
A laser is a light source: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. This type of light typically contains numerous wavelengths of light that travel in what is called a phase. The parallel pattern in which wavelengths travel enables light to be narrowed into a very small, intense beam. Laser devices exist across all types of technology, including medicine.
How do laser treatments work?
The efficacy of a laser treatment revolves around the beams of light in a given device. Treatments deliver short pulses of concentrated wavelengths of light at the skin. Depending on the type of laser and wavelengths of light included in treatment, a number of benefits can be obtained.
Areas of the body that can be treated with lasers
Various laser devices enable us to treat many areas of the body. Lasers are often used on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands to correct the signs of aging. Laser devices can also conduct hair removal virtually anywhere on the body. We also offer vaginal rejuvenation with laser therapy.
How can laser treatments improve your skin?
Laser treatments can improve the skin in several ways. Laser treatments can achieve improvements including:
- Removing unwanted hair from any part of the body
- Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Correcting the signs of sun damage
- Encouraging tissue tightening through collagen stimulation
- Reducing or eliminating vascular lesions such as certain birthmarks
- Eliminating spider veins
- Improving the appearance of scars and stretch marks
- Destroying acne-causing bacteria to clear breakouts and inhibit future flare-ups
- Rejuvenating vaginal tissues to improve sexual health, improve atrophy symptoms and decrease stress urinary incontinence
What Our Patients Say
“I have been a client of The Med Spa at NSPS for a while now, and every time I leave, I can’t wait to tell everyone about my exceptional experience. I have had multiple different treatments and have worked mostly with Christal and Amber. I started going for laser hair removal, and that process has been seamless… I can now say I look forward to getting my laser treatments because Christal has been so friendly and comforting. I will also say, ALL of the staff there has been very sweet and welcoming. NSPS is successful in providing a warm and inviting atmosphere and I feel lucky to have found them!”

Who is a good candidate for laser treatments?
Many adults are excellent candidates for laser treatments. A wide variety of devices enable trained, licensed providers to address a full range of concerns. There are some instances in which laser treatments may not be advisable. This can be for individuals with darker skin tones, pregnant women, and people who have been treated with Accutane in the past 6 months. People who have had shingles or herpes should alert their provider so precautions can be taken to prevent unnecessary inflammation or recurrence.
Types of Laser Treatments
Some of the common laser treatments sought today, and performed in our office, include:
- Laser hair removal
- Laser skin resurfacing

Forever Young BBL
Forever Young BBL is a unique laser technology that delivers light therapy to target signs of aging and sun damage. This is also known as Broad Band Light Therapy. Forever Young BBL can treat a wide variety of conditions including, age spots, redness, freckles, and acne. This laser treatment can be used almost anywhere on the body and results in a more rejuvenated and youthful appearance.
The HALO laser treatment uses hybrid fractional laser technology that can eliminate years of skin damage by precisely targeting the right depth of your skin. With HALO, you can see an improvement in the skin tone, texture, fine lines, and wrinkles. This treatment can also decrease the size of your pores. This treatment is customizable for each patient, which allows for flexibility in treatment levels and downtime.
Lumenis CO2 Laser Resurfacing
At The Medspa, we offer Lumenis® AcuPulse™, which is a state-of-the-art laser devise for skin resurfacing. This system uses unparalleled high-power-shourt duration pulse technologies which maximize treatment effectiveness as well as the patient’s safety and comfort. This laser resurfacing treatment can effectively treat fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.
Laser Spider Vein Reduction
Using our laser technology, we are able to offer treatment for spider veins. The light-based energy is powerful yet gentle and directly targets the vein. This energy causes the blood inside the vein to coagulate, eventually causing its collapse. Since the laser energy is directed toward the vein, the surrounding tissue is unharmed. To get desired results, you will need a series of treatment sessions.
Laser Hair Removal
Our practice offers Forever Bare BBL for laser hair removal. Forever Bare BBL provides a safe, fast, and comfortable treatment for removing unwanted hair. The Broad Band Light technology allows for even heating of hair follicles and minimizes missed areas. The pulsed light causes the hair follicle to stop producing hair, while the surrounding tissue is unharmed. The most common areas for laser hair removal include the underarms, face, arms, legs, bikini area, chest, shoulders, and back.
FemTouch Vaginal Rejuvenation
FemTouch is a laser treatment that improves vaginal health including symptoms of dryness, painful intercourse, urinary incontinence, and vaginal laxity. The FemTouch laser uses a fractional CO2 laser beam that regenerates the tissue and remodels the vaginal mucosal layer. Most patients report noticeable improvements after just one 5 minute, treatment. We may recommend multiple treatments for optimal results
Are laser treatments safe?
Laser devices undergo extensive testing during the developmental phase of manufacturing. The treatments conducted in our office involve devices that have been approved by the FDA and proven for safety and efficacy.
Side effects of laser treatments
Laser treatments deliver pulses of light into the skin. This results in thermal heating of the uppermost layers of tissue. Side effects include redness and a warming or sunburned sensation. Some people develop slight swelling after laser treatment. Depending on the type of laser treatment performed, vascular spots may darken and flake off or the outer layer of the epidermis may become flaky and slough off.
Our providers discuss the side effects that patients may encounter during the consultation for laser treatment. Side effects and potential risks can be detailed based on the type and extent of treatment being considered.
